Buddy Class Programme (December 2023)

Self-confidence and school community can be fostered through the buddy class programme which pairs younger and older children. Learners in KG1 A are in the buddy class with Year 2A children. KG1 learners were incredibly delighted when the older learners read stories to them which provided examples of proficient reading and allowed the older buddies to assist the younger ones with their reading. The older buddies demonstrated how to sound out words and utilise the book’s illustrations to help the younger ones understand the text.

Many of the younger buddies were thrilled to have their older friends read to them and they could identify the sounds they had heard. Learners were excited and left wanting more!!
