Leadership

Jean Claude Chalouhi

Superintendent

I believe that an effective school leader’s role is to empower, inspire and motivate others. This type of leadership can promote the changes needed to prepare learners for their future achievements. Strong collaboration and trust between parents, students, teachers and leaders is the foundation to help learners achieve high academic standards and help them to become lifelong learners and active citizens.

I believe in being an effective leader by raising expectations for students, staff members and the entire school community based on a common vision which inspires and motivates all the stakeholders. This we can achieve by working in partnership with all and having an open and continuous communication to inform and support student learning.

I believe ensuring continuous professional growth for all by providing continuous professional development based on the best practices which focus on improving learning for every child ensuring that every child has the right to learn and grow and be successful by allowing professionals to work together in order to redesign and change as we work with individuals and make a difference.

Alan Morley

Head of School, Doha Campus

At English Modern School Doha, we aim to provide a truly international education. English Modern School Doha has students from over fifty (50) countries. As an international school we celebrate our national roots, but we also transcend national boundaries. We strive to provide the literacies and academic currency to empower our students to succeed in a range of global academic contexts. Be it a conceptual framework, or disciplinary skills, the capacity to utilise a range of cognitive skills, or a values framework which would have the students embrace the highest standards of academic honesty as their own. We celebrate our international composition, ambitions and outlook.

We adopt the Cambridge International curriculum from Year 1 through Year 12, culminating with IGCSE and A and AS levels.  We have a specially tailored, developmentally appropriate formative program in KG 1 and 2.

The English Modern School Doha adopts belonging as a central pillar of its mission. The English Modern School Doha is, “A Place Where We Belong.” We are a community of expansive and challenging ambition. A place where you might come as you are and feel welcomed and accepted. A place where you might embrace the culture, ethos and expectations of this community and become all that you might be. The English Modern School Doha is a place where we all belong and we all grow – staff and students. Students are encouraged to enjoy their time in our classrooms, on our sports fields and playgrounds, our gymnasiums, laboratories, swimming pool and our shared cyberspace. They are encouraged to share their interests, indeed their passions, with their teachers and fellow students. They are encouraged to forge a sense of affiliation and attachment, to extend to others a sense of inclusion, so all might feel accepted and feel that they truly belong.

Welcome to the English Modern School Doha. It is a special place in Doha and a special place in our hearts.

Joan Marie Larter

Head of School, Al Khor Campus

I am pleased to introduce myself to new parents and to reacquaint myself to returning families. My name is Joan Marie Larter and this is my 6th year as Head of School at EMS Khor. I am Canadian and I have worked as an educator in 6 countries over the past 35 years. I have been an administrator in the Middle East for the past 13 years. Prior to joining the Al Khor team, I was Primary Principal at the EMS Doha campus. Each of these opportunities has offered very different cultural insights. I feel these experiences have allowed me to be more open-minded and have a better understanding of people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds, both professionally and personally.

I am excited to be returning to EMS Al Khor and look forward to another successful year, working with our dynamic administrative team and dedicated, diligent teachers to ensure your children get the best educational experiences possible.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.
