School Counsellor

My name is Kiera Donaghy and I am delighted to be joining EMS Al Wakra as the new school counsellor. I am originally from Northern Ireland, however, my teaching career began in London, England, before expatriating to begin teaching internationally.

My experience so far consists of nine years as a teacher in both British and international schools, as well as previous experience as a school counsellor following the completion of my MSc in Psychology. I have a passion for this role as I enjoy supporting and promoting the social/emotional well-being of all students.

My counselling philosophy is student-centred and solution focused. In my experience, students  thrive when they are understood, accepted and cared for by others and under positive conditions they can build the required skills to understand and change their behaviour. I have had experience of working with a wide variety of age groups now within Primary and look forward to supporting the school community here at EMS Al Wakra.
